  1. Recent Windows Server updates break VPN, RDP, RRAS connections

Hi Team,We see there are multiple post patching issues identified for June-2022 patches released by MS. These reports related to these problems coming in since Patch Tuesday have a common theme: losing Remote Desktop and VPN connectivity to servers with Routing and Remote Access Service RRAS enabled where the June Windows Server Updates have been installed. Please let us know if MS has identified any similar issue and remediation / workaround available. We would like to make sure, RDP is not broken on our servers post patching.Appreciate your comments on the same. Refer this article for detai

Connecting to Terminal Server (RDP) via VPN connection windows mobile 5.0

    Hello, everybody

    I have the folow problem

I have an Exchange 2003 Server behind ISA 2000 (which is also RRAS server), and HP iPAQ rw6815 with windows mobile 5.0

I try to connect to this server using built-in terminal client? and I'm unsuccessful

On the other hand, I can connect to intranet sites via VPN, and syncronize with Exchange through ActiveSync - so VPN tunnel is OK

Also I can connect using terminal client if I my ipaq connected to our inside Wi-Fi spot (in this case it does not use VPN connection, as it receives our internal IP) - so terminal client and server are OK.

And I can connect using my PCs RDP client (and IPAQ as GPRS modem) and establishing VPN connection - so it is not a permanent problem with RDP and ISA

I used PPTP as tunnel protocol

I no want to open RDP port on ISA server, or make port mapping to Exchange, I want use terminal services connection via VPN connection

    Any ideas?

  3. PPTP VPN setup on RRAS server not working

    Hello!

I am attempting to setup a PPTP VPN from my domain controller (Server 2016) which has RRAS setup. Basic install of RRAS has been done - DirectAccess & VPN and Routing ticked when adding the role -> Deploy VPN only -> configured RRAS for VPN Access and NAT.

When trying to connect to the VPN via a machine on another network, I get the following error: "A connection between your computer and the VPN server has been established but the VPN connection cannot be completed. The most common cause for this failure
is that at least one Internet device (for example, a firewall or router) between your computer and the VPN server is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) protocol packets. If the problem persists, contact your network administrator or
    Internet Service Provider."

I have port forwarded 1723 and 47 on the router and also opened them on the server firewall (inbound and outbound).

VPN on the client machine is setup to use PPTP instead of automatic. I have also tried configuring L2TP to test (also port forwarded for this etc) but this also did not connect.

Does anyone have any recommendation on what I can try?

I would like to say I have a decent knowledge on VPN's but the skills I lack include NAT and a few other things which I might be overlooking - so any help will be grateful. I can of course provide more info and details if needed.

Thanks in advance Recent Windows Server updates break VPN, RDP, RRAS connections :)

    RRAS VPN Windows Server 2012

    Hi there,

Quick question, have you guys encountered not-NAP capable in RRAS remote client's status? It was working fine till last week, but after a weekly restart on Sunday, I noticed this problem yesterday. The issue
is the client can connect to the VPN, the internet can be accessed but unable to connect to the server itself (can't use network drives, Solidworks). By the way, NPS is enabled with all the policies. Are there any settings that I need to change or check? Kindly
    help me guys.
