Recent Windows update causing total failure, unable to reset or backload.

The issues started on 6/11/25, the day after the 6/10/25 update was installed onto our PC. Our PC would crash and shut down when playing Fortnite. Upon rebooting, it would load to the windows diagnostic menu and would not make any progress towards getting back into the functional OS unless it was reset to a restore point, which only worked some times and wouldnt seem to "stick" because we could have to continuously "restore" it to the same update each time this happened. Upon researching the issue some more, I came across this article: https://www.neowin.net/news/windows-11-gets-important-upda

  2. Unable to play Rome Total War 1 in Windows 10

    Hi Johnny,

As you are unable to play the game (Rome Total War 1) in your PC, I would like to ask if you get any error message. The issue might be caused due to compatibility issues of the game with Windows 10. I suggest you to install the game in compatibility mode
by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

    • Download the setup files for the game from the manufacturer website and save it on your local disk.
    • Right click on the setup file of the
      game and select “Properties”.
    • Select “Compatibility” Tab.
    • Place a check mark next to“Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.
    • Let the game install and then check thefunctionality.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.

  4. Recent Windows update causing total failure, unable to reset or backload.

Windows 8 failure configuring updates and reverting

I agree 8 is awful! It's not for me though... I replaced a broken screen in a Win 8 laptop that was given to me and I am going to give it for free to someone that can't afford one so they can do homework at home. Yes I took it from 8 to 8.1 back on 10/09/2014. This is what I posted there...

"Great post! I found a similar one. I would like to point out that you may want to edit your OP...

    1. Step 1 should read to disable AUTOMATIC updates, not disable manual updates.

    2. KB2871398 should really read KB2871389

I would like to say that KB2917499 may also be needed as it was in my case. I also had to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter after installing those 2 updates. After these steps I was able to begin my 8.1 download from the Microsoft store. I don't know if it made a difference or not, but I also went into the Bios and disabled "Secure Boot."

It was a helpful post. Thanks!
