Windows 10: Recent Windows Update Completely Wiped Data

So my PC recently did an automatic windows update on shutdown and when I turned my PC on this morning it finished off the update. Everything was normal at first but then when it came to the login screen the resolution was messed up, then when I logged in my desktop was empty, my computer was EXTREMELY slow and my other monitor wasnt turning on. After some digging I realised windows had deleted my graphics driver so I reinstalled my graphics driver which fixed the issue with only one of my monitors working and also helped things run a bit faster. However, now I am stuck without my desktop files

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Microsoft forced update wipes my data

I recently put my work computer to sleep mode and left for the day. In the morning it was slow to wake up and when it did, I noticed that
all off my data was wiped out. My Intuit Quickbooks company file was gone, everything. I brought my computer in for repair and was informed that some select people get wiped out when there is a forced Microsoft
update. This is terrible! Microsoft is a major player. How can this be overlooked? This cost me money for repair and several days of lost work not to mention payroll that needs to take place immediately. There is some info online about this and I see a
few suggestions that it moved data to TEMP files and that I should go through about 100 steps to reestablish the blah blah blah, but why do I need to correct this in the first place?
