Windows 10: Recently both edge&ghrome lock up and TaskMgr reports as many as 10 recurred programs open....

Recently both edge&chrome lock up and TaskMgr reports as many as 10 recurred programs open. I have to close em all but if I Recover, it just adds em all back into memory. Is there a Setting to stop that?This is a new phenomenon. I do have a Chrome, Edge, Thunderbird, Outlook at other shortcuts on my desktop to launch them.

Microsoft Edge and Mail programs

I ran the steps to reinstall Windows 10 default apps after Defender showed no problems. I have my mail program back but instead of Edge I have Internet Explorer. Edge has got to be on this machine somewhere because when I clicked on a hyperlink in an e-mail
(that I trust) it opened in Edge. But I can't find edge in the programs.

If I click on start and type Microsoft Edge a list comes up with the Edge icon at the top and further down Edge is listed. I have tried right clicking and pinning to start but nothing happens. I have tried double left clicking to try to open but nothing
happens.

Any other suggestions?

Recent Files Open List per Program

Having several programs pinned to taskbar Windows 10, right click Program icon list Recent files having been opened. I am not looking for Recent Items to open, rather to remove all those listed and not shown that as you individually remove from list, others continue to appear.

Is there a way to Remove/Delete all from a hidden or a visible location folder of said recent opened files ?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
