Recently upgraded storage, new C drive is being flagged as "read only".

    Windows 10 desktop PC.

About a month or two ago, I installed two new hard drives - a hard drive that is approximately 3 terabytes and a Solid State Drive that is approximately 1 terabyte.

Naturally, the SSD has been made my main hard drive, and is the new "C" drive. However, I've encountered an usual issue - apparently that new C drive is flagged as "read only". I found this out through Steam.

I've been trying to google how to resolve this issue for the past few days, and nothing has fixed it. I tried followingthis thread, but it didn't work. Attempting to follow the "attrib" method via CMD as guided only returns the error "Parameter format not correct -" with no other information.

Ignore that the folder says "Skyrim", I made this folder as a test to try and fix an issue, which is how I discovered this problem in the first place

How do I fix my SSD saying it's "read only"? This is the SSD in question.

    :)

  2. Hard Drive Storage

I have a 500Gb Hard Drive, running Windows 10 Pro version 1909. My c drive is nearly full, I have checked every area on the pc and nothing adds up to the 486Gb I'm supposed to have available. I have gone to Settings > System > Storage - it shows that 401Gb
is being taken up by Apps and features but when I click on this and show the list of installed apps with their sizes, I have added up the entire list and it comes to 25Gb total. It doesn't show what's eating up the rest of the 400Gb of space. I have deleted
everything I can and have only been able to free up 11Gb so far so my c drive is still showing red. At this point is the only other step to reload the pc, or does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be and how to fix?

    Thanks,

    Heather

  3. Installing Windows on my new C drive

Current Situation: My C Disk is cramming up and I decided to change a new C disk.

Currently my computer storage is composed of an SSD (being my C disk) and an HDD. I bought a new SSD and desire to somehow transfer my current system into the new SSD along with the current environmental variables, user data, both program files folder, and
various other folders instead of installing a brand new system on my new C drive.

    Questions I am currently wondering:

    1. I noticed the function provided by windows called "Create a system image". Currently my softwares are distributed evenly in my C drive (SSD) and D drive (HDD). I am not changing my HDD, so softwares installed there will not be removed. If I only choose
to backup my system in my C drive, can I still run my softwares on my HDD after changing a C drive and reinstalling Windows using the generated ISO file?
    2. Does this function "create a system image" pack up the environmental variables, registry, along with all other folders in my C drive, or only the minimal system?
    3. If I extract the system image ISO into my new C drive, can I somehow "extract" from the ISO file to create a new system in my new drive? If not, is it possible to make my new C drive a windows Boot USB, and directly installing the windows system onto itself?
    4. What is your suggested method of making this move?

    Thank you for your help!!

  4. Recently upgraded storage, new C drive is being flagged as "read only".

I have the read only issue on a new install of windows 10

So I tried what you said and it didn't make the text file read only. What I am referring to though is that steam (where I get all my games from) cannot write to the folder in my C drive because it is on read only. Most likely because it is a folder it is trying to access not a file. Any suggestions?
