    Reclaim space on hdd


    I need to reclaim some space on the hard drive that my Windows 10 is installed on this pc.

    There is a Windows.old.000 folder (13.2 GB)

    and a

    Windows.old folder (9.09 GB).

    Can I still use Disk Cleanup with Windows 10 to do this, and is it ok to do it?

    deleted unallocated partition

    In my experience the operating system only sees one partition on an usb connected external drive. I suspect that your disk had two or more partitions.



    You may have to physically connect your external hdd to a sata connector of your motherboard in order for disk management to see the unallocated space and allow you to reclaim it.

    2. Scroll down and tap on 'Storage Sense'.

    3. Tap on 'clear temporary files' to reclaim space on your phone.

    Did you upgrade twice? Just use the clean up tool and click include system files... and see what it gives as an option, it mostly will just delete the .old one or the .000 vice versa.

    I didn't upgrade twice..... just a prior Windows 7 user who downloaded Windows 10 to the computer using the Media Creation Tool. I wonder if some of that was left over from prior Windows 7 residual? Anyway, it's all gone now.
