    Reconnect NAS/network share in Explorer after location change

    Hello,I have a question about a network share folders on the NAS. A client of ours works in two locations for his company.The NAS is located at location A. He can link to the IP address of the NAS directly here in his Windows Explorer, adding the corresponding folder to his explorer.When he goes to work at location B, he can connect to the folder via a VPN connection.However, when he returns to location A, Windows requires that the connection to the network share be removed i.e., the folder removed from the explorer and then reconnected. The IP address remains, logically, unchanged as does

    :)

  2. NAS shares not always reconnecting at log on

    Quite frequently I find that my Synology NAS shares don't always reconnect at log on, but as soon as I click on the mapped shares, they become available. I've read an article on the Microsoft web site (https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/...0-version-1809) but it's too technical for me to understand. Can anyone explain in simple step-by-step terms if there is a way to resolve this issue? My laptop is running on Windows 10 64-bit.

  3. Add a NAS location to Windows 10 Index

    Hi,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    We understand the concern as you would like to add the NAS location to Windows 10 Indexing feature.

    In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check.

    1. Press Windows + E key to open File Explorer
    2. Click on This PC from the left pane of File Explorer.
    3. Then on the right pane, expand the Network locations.
    4. Right click in the Network locations and select
      Add a network location from the context menu.
    5. Click Next on Add Network Location wizard.
    6. Follow the onscreen steps
    7. On the completing the Add Network Location
      screen, click Finish.
    8. The new network location will now open in File Explorer.
    9. Open the Control Panel, click on the
      Indexing Options icon, and close the Control Panel.
    10. Click on the Modify button.
    11. Check (add) or
      uncheck (remove)
      the locations you want to be indexed, and click on
      OK
      when finished

    However, for issues related to NAS drive, let me help to point you in the right direction. I would suggest you to post your query in
    TechNet
    Forums
    where you will find professionals with expertise on NAS for Windows 10 and that would be the appropriate forum.

    Reconnect NAS/network share in Explorer after location change

    Cannot reconnect to network shared drive with Windows 10

    After months of trouble in getting the NAS drives mapped, all was well until a reboot or a logoff. After a reboot, a popup message briefly appeared just above the lower right corner of the taskbar indicating network drives could not be reconnected.

    I have searched and searched for a possible fix or a method to resolve the mystery of reconnecting the NAS shared drive.

    Anyone else have this issue with Windows 10?

    Topology:

    -> NAS 3 Shared folder

    -> NAS 2 Shared folder

    -> NAS 1 Shared folder

    Cable modem -> Router -> 1Gb Network Hub /

    \

    -> Windows 10 Pro x64 (Windows Firewall NAS ports opened - AVG Antivirus shared access allowed)

    If anyone has a viable solution, please consider sharing.

    BTW, this is the message that I get when attempting to open the shared NAS link
