Windows 10: Recorded audio distorted and incomprehensible

I bought a new laptop recently. On the pc i used to use, i recorded audio through an audio interface, everything sounded fine. On the laptop, however, recorded audio sounds like compressed buzzing/noise. All the drivers are up to date, the audio interface works fine with other devices, recording through other inputs gives the same result. I'm a little lost on what to do.here's what it sounds like, this is a recording of my guitar

• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

From what you have mentioned, I would suggest you to try these steps to see if it resolves the issue

Method 1: Hardware Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with recording. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your recording.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select
  Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel
• Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter

I suggest you to install all the latest audio and Display drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.

recording sound with usb webcam - audio is distorted

Also - I don't know if this is relevant but the sound of the first couple of notes seems ok, and then the distortion comes in and stays, which suggests the laptop is doing something which affects the sound recorded.
