Windows 10: Recording tab freezes, microphone causing crashes of programs

Hello, I have a problem with the microphone.


When I am in the game overwatch and try to use the mic the game crashes and I need to ctrl+alt+del an kill it. After this crash the sound device stops working completely and I need to restart the PC. But the restart doesn't want to finish it just hangs there for hours until I physically restart the PC using the "hard" restart button.


I have tried multiple headphones mics all with the same result. Tried Jabra Evolve wired, and Arctis Steelseries1 wireless

I have tried changing setting in the "recordings tab" but the recording tab freezes every time.

I have tried running windows troubleshoot but its just running for hours without ever finishing.

I have tried uninstalling the driver through device manager but uninstalling also freezes.

External microphone not showing in the Recording tab

My Windows 10 laptop is not recognizing any external microphones. I have two headsets: a Bluetooth one and one for an audio jack. Both headsets work correctly on other devices. When I connect the headsets to my computer, I can hear audio, but the microphones
do not work.

Here are the steps I've taken so far:

• Updated drivers (they were already up to date)
• From Sound Settings, headsets do not appear as options for the input device
• Ran the microphone troubleshooter - headsets do not appear as options
• From Control Panel > Sound > Recording, headsets do not appear as options. I have selected the disabled and disconnected devices options.
• From Microphone Privacy, all apps have access to the microphone.
  

That's everything I found online to fix this problem. Any suggestions?

• Go to Sound properties > Recording tab.
• Right Click Microphone Device.
• Click on Listen tab.
• Check Listen to this device.

Can't unmute microphone?

• When you unmute the microphone, is it via Recording tab under
  Recording devices?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Are there any newly installed applications that may have caused this?
• Is this an on going issue or recent?
