What can I do when I find an answer here that is incorrect? Quite offten I find answers that are incorrect but the thread is locked. I know sometimes pages will allow feed back but I often find answers posted that is not correct pertaining to how windows works. I believe it needs corrected but the only option is to rate the answer with a number of stars. There is also a problem here with considerable redundent and obvious information. Most people have already attempted the obvious fix and the well known solutions. These are found as the first instructions in users manuals, common sense a

Windows 10 1709 System Restore problems...

That seems to be an attempt at Option 2 in the tutorial, which requires you to
    a. Boot to a command prompt (Did you?)
    b. You then seem to be mixing steps 3,4 and 5, thus your command is incorrect.

I suggest Option 1 is easier.

If you still have problems, please repost listing each specific step and saying which option from the tutorial you are using. Thanks.

    Incorrect Boilerplate Answers

The volunteers on answers.microsoft.com aften post the same answers no matter how obviously incorrect they are.

Recently, I have been looking at a way to resolve a problem where Windows automatically jockeys my applications around on my three monitors, often making the worst possible choice, like Windows will move every application to the only monitor that is currently turned off.

The real solution to this issue is:

    1) there just isn't one, although MS is supposedly correcting this issue in an upcoming version of Windows 10 that you must be in the Insider Program to get at the moment

    2) there are 3rd-party apps that supposedly fix this

However, on answers.microsoft.com here are some of the obviously incorrect answers:

    1) some funny guy posted instructions on how to open Device Manager and uninstall your monitors

this "answer" should have been deleted, and the guy who posted it should be tossed out of the volunteer program,

yet it's still up on this site

    2) one answer is to change a setting in the video drivers; however it refers to a setting that does not exist, so another jokester?

    3) the traditional boilerplate answer that you get if your question contains the word "monitor" or "display" is: update your driver,

and a volunteer responded with this old suggestion to someone having the problem that I am having

I guess I don't know what the intention is here. Do volunteers accrue points or money or something for posting any old answer? The

"update your driver" response is old, tired, basically always wrong, yet it seems that half of the answers here include this recommendation no matter what the question is. Pretending that updating drivers is a cure-all for everything that could ever go wrong with your PC --

    it's crazy-making, and I don't understand why it's tolerated here.

If you ever mention that an answer is wildly off-base, you are told that the people who man this site are volunteers and you should be happy with what you got.

Yeah, I don't really care if the people here are volunteers. That's not an excuse to post clearly wrong, time-wasting, boilerplate responses to peoples' serious questions.

When I look this over, what I'm really saying is: there must be someone at Microsoft who has the job of overseeing what comes and goes on this website, and whoever it is, I don't think you're doing a good job.
