Took laptop into "professional computer tech" and long story short, got it back w/out anything but Microsoft Edge app created and saved folders & files.. all Google app data is gone as well as original user which has been replaced with a different name but using my original user email.. they made me a backup USB but that is such a mess I have no idea what is what.. when taking it back into them they claimed I had 4 partitions with 1 being corrupt which must have been that user profile and everything I am missing so that didn't get backed up before they reinstalled Win10 which I never asked

    :)

  2. New User Profile

System Restore does NOT affect user data. If I was in your position I would take these steps:

    1. Install System Restore Explorer. It lets you access user data that
IS actually contained in restore points but does not get restored by the restore mechanism.

    2. Treat this event as an incentive to set up a robust backup scheme. Important data must at all times be stored on at least two independent media.

  3. user profile Win10

You have to create a new user account with the new address, then move the data to the newer account and then delete older account.

    Step 1:

User Account - Add in Windows 10.

    http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5440-user-ac...

Make sure you change it to administrator account from Family and other users tab after creation.

Under other users>click the new account and change type to admin

    Step 2:

Log into the new user account. After doing that, type in folder options in search bar, then select file explorer options. Click the view tab and select 'show hidden files, folders and drivers'. Once you've selected that, click apply then ok.

Next, click the start menu and click computer. Double-click the hard drive (usually CRecover data & Win10 Home Microsoft user profile replaced by a new one :) and from the folders that appear, click users. Select the name of your old user. Select EVERYTHING there, except for the following:

    Ntuser.dat

    Ntuser.dat.log

    Ntuser.ini

Right-click the folders you've selected and click copy. Once you've copied them, click the back icon and you should be returned to C:/users. Select your new user profile. Delete everything that's there, except for the three files which are listed in the bullet
    points above.

Once you've deleted everything, right-click and select paste. The folders you selected from your old user profile should now be in your new user profile.

I can't create a New User Profile that is Not Corrupt! Please Help!

    Hi,

I realize the inconvenience you are facing in creating the new user profile on your device. Do not worry we will help you with this issue.

As a work around, I suggest you to enable the built-in administrator account, log-in with the admin account to create a new user profile and check if you are able to check. This will let us know if the issue persists with user account or the operating system.

Step 1: Follow the steps to enable Built-in admin account.

    Enable Built-in administrator.

    • Press Windows + X key together on your desktop screen.
    • Click on Command Prompt (admin) to open
      Command Prompt
      .
    • Type the following command and hit Enter:
    • net user administrator /active: yes (Check for the spaces)
    4. Now log off from the current user and try to login to the administrator account that is enabled.

Note: Please follow the same steps and type net user administrator /active: no to disable admin account after the troubleshooting is done.

Step 2: Refer to the articles to create a test user account/ Microsoft account respectively.

For Local account: Create a local user account in Windows 10

For Microsoft account: Help with Microsoft account

Hope it helps. Get back to us with an updated status of creating new user profile for further assistance.

    Thank you.
