But is there any way to disable Outlook's Office "Recover deleted email" or "Recover email from Microsoft Exchange" - whatever the heck that is.
I am getting pretty darn tired of 'purging' deleted emails.
This only happens with my live.com account and quite frankly, I hesitate to keep using it.
I mean seriously, emptying trash means just that. In the real world I don't visit the dump and say, "I'd like to recover my trash that was picked up last Thursday. Gee. Thanks."
    Know what I mean?

    :)

    Hiya Ken!

I am using Outlook 2016 essentially because I have an older, pop, mail account (specifically - optonline.net - my cable TV/Internet provider) that does not work (is not supported) in Win10 Mail app.

The problem is, when using my version of Outlook, after I empty the Deleted items folder (ie empty trash) - the messages are not really deleted. If I click on "Uncover deleted items," my previously deleted messages show up.

I do not like this. I don't want my deleted messages stored somewhere else. When I delete them, I want them just that, deleted.

No problem, I just delete them again.

But I was hoping for a way to permanently delete messages when emptied from folder WITHOUT having to "recover" and then delete again.

I dunno. Maybe it can't be done.

Gosh, I miss my Commodore Amiga days, lol. Or even good ol' DOS. Seriously.

  6. I know this is slightly a different conversation but I always raise with my clients and members on supplier specific accounts.

I would be considering moving to a free, modern email account either from Google (gmail) or Microsoft (Outlook).

I recommend this for two reasons, the products are really good and it makes you independent from your supplier. When you are hooked to a supplier they can hold it over your head when to try to move to a more cost effective supplier or when you flat out move and their services are not available in your new local. Then of course there is the functionality and imap accounts get you out of the business of backing up email or deleting the same mail from two or three devices (computer, tablet, phone).

It usually very easy to move accounts with a few tricks if you are ever interested.

On the deleting email from pop I would see how long you have them being kept on server. Some people don't actually ever delete mail from their source pop account or have it set to something like 30 days. You can set it to download and delete from server immediately. This might help in Outlook 2016.

I hear you on the good old days, but you and I know they will never be back. I dictate some of my emails with Siri, we are moving to systems without keyboards.

    Take care.
    Ken

    Thank you!

I have since re-tried the Mail app in Win10 and now it works with my other email clients! No more Outlook, so far.
