Windows 10: Recover Folders of Files from System Image?

The backup image was made from the same computer as I am now using, to gain access to the System Image folders and files. I just re-installed Windows 10, and hope to copy my Username directory and all sub-directories/files back across. Does a new SID get created with a fresh install of an Operating System, similar to Computer B?

The final step, #13, states:
13. You will now need to set permissions to allow you access to this file, folder, drive, or registry key.

Do I have to follow the link to set permissions? It looks a bit daunting, mentioning making a Restore Point etc.

More info: when i re-installed Windows 10, I used my Microsoft Account to register/access it. Perhaps this is where the new SID came from.

In the Select User or Group box (Step 7 in the first link above) I typed Administrators and, when Check Names, it said DESKTOP-3R0L0TG\Administrators (maybe in reverse). I'm hoping that will allow me (the Administrator) to access the directory.

Probably not in this case. For a user folder if you take ownership you should already have full control. Check the Security tab in Properties once you have taken ownership. The tutorial covers all possible cases such as the registry and the system folders where the permissions can be more complex.

Edit: I've just tested this on an image from another PC. Yes, you do have to change permissions after taking ownership, but it's not difficult. All you have to do after taking ownership is add your account to the list of 'Group or User names' on the Properties - Security tab.

Update: Folders and Files are copying okay. There are many folders that are now superfluous, so it's going to take a while, but worth it.

You should find this whole process much easier if you use Macrium Reflect Free to create system images. Reflect easily allows you to mount an image and extract files/folders.
