Windows 10: Recover Lost Files

How can I recover lost files? I am getting VERY tired of Microsoft's updates breaking my computer, which they have done twice in the last month. And this is not the first time, either. This time, after updating, it deleted files on my desk top, removed icons, and I had to go find them on the hard drive. I was able to stop future updates-temporarily-but am really tired of having to clean up the messes that these updates are causing. Is there a way to revert my computer back a week, or even a couple of days, and somehow "go back" to where my computer was before updates thought it was cute and funny to wreak havoc once again on my computer? I do not think I will get another Windows 10 in the future, because quite frankly, the last two years have shown I cannot rely on it for anything. This last update even erased every last file folder and favorite I had on Google chrome, as well. Thanks, you guys. Would reverting my computer back a few days help, or would that just re-ignite the update to re-install again. Thanks for any help one can offer.

How to recover the lost messages?


1. Re-create your mail folder hierarchy by dragging folders into place in the Folder list. Note that any folder you have created to group sub-folders but that does not itself contain messages will not appear in the Folder list and so must be created again.
2. Re-download the list of newsgroups from each news account.
3. Reset your subscribed newsgroups and download messages again.
4. Reset synchronization options on IMAP and newsgroup folders.
5. Edit any message rule that moves or copies messages to folders other than the Inbox.
These are the steps from which you can get the lost information back.
