Windows 10: Recover partition after creating new partition of whole drive and quick format

Hello:I would like to know if this is possible. I saw that a drive partition was lost and though it was a new one I was installing but it was not, it was one with important data. So I created on that drive a new partition and quick format, assigning a letter. When I discovered the mistake, I used Recuva to recover all the files. It is recovering those mostly photos with their original names and I can see the folder where they were inin the Recuva software.The question is would it be possible to just recover the old partition of the whole drive before creating the new one, so I could have

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

 

Recover data from a RAW partition

I think you should mention that which file system you used. As per of my experience I suggest you Remo Recover utility to recover data from old hard drive. I think it will be helpful for you.

 

Any way to format a drive and remove all the partitions

Okay so if you want to dualboot, do what I suggested earlier, but with a few changes.

Instead of just formatting a new partition of the full drive size, calculate how many GB's you want for each installation, and create two partitions. Install W7 to the one you want it to go to.

After you install 7, with your options, you're going to want to install XP on the other partition first, then upgrade it to Vista. That should allow you to dualboot Vista and Windows 7.
