We published this article because many of our customers have reported such problems where, their computer screen encountered a pop-up error/Trojan adware, derived through a browser after visiting unidentified/unverified/unlicensed websites or driven through various search engine add-ins, which usually display a misleading message using counterfeit interests threating the security of your machine or towards identity theft. Identification: A message shows up on a computer screen usually through a browser, which may include disabling general keyboard and mouse functions with a frost screen

    Adware

Have you sought assistance from your antimalware provider (Avast, AVG, Avira, McAfee, Norton, etc)?

For issues with adware popups while using Edge see the Answer of GreginMich dated

For issues with Google Chrome see How to stop unwanted pop-ups or homepage changes in Chrome,
and How to reset Google Chrome settings. You may want to use Remove unwanted ads, pop-ups & malware - Computer - Google Chrome Help

If the popups continue see the following free multi-step removal guide from Malwaretips.com: https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-adware-popup-ads/

STEP 1: Uninstall malicious programs from Windows

STEP 2: Remove adware and pop-up ads with AdwCleaner

STEP 3: Remove potentially unwanted programs with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

STEP 4: Remove rootkits and trojans with HitmanPro

(OPTIONAL) STEP 5: Remove browser hijackers with Zemana AntiMalware Free

(OPTIONAL) STEP 6: Remove pop-up ads from Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome

You may not need to use Hitman Pro (Trial Version) or Zemana (also a trial version) as suggested in step 4 and step 5 but you may need to reset your browsers (see step 6).

    Adwares

Unfortunately Windows Defender and many other antimalware programs do not always properly address issues involving adware.

NOTE: The new Edge browser seems to have an affinity for adware issues. Until that "flaw" is resolved you may wish to use a different browser.
