Windows 10: Recovering files from old recycle bin solved

I had the same problem recover files from Recycle Bin of an old, no longer existing machine. Thus without UUID of the user as discussed many years ago in https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/recovering-files-from-old-recycle-bin/e8b1a2aa-c05c-4865-ab07-71ecc4bb6c30 unsolved. This thread is locked by now.To solve the problem: do as in description of the above thread short: take ownership and make yourself principal for the data in $Recycle.Bin. As described the old UserID like e.g. 'S-1-5-21-1554627909-3506557991-760532708-500 will change to 'Recycle Bin'. When you

To prevent your files from being deleted from the Recycle Bin, we suggest increasing the maximum file size your Recycle Bin can keep by following the steps below:

• Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
• Under the Settings for selected location, select Custom size.
• Fill up the box for your allotted maximum file size for your Recycle Bin.

Once you delete files from the recycle bin, it will automatically go to the second-stage recycle bin. Here the files will be retained for another 30 days.

To recover files from Second-stage Recycle Bin:

sign into Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

Step 1: Navigate to the ‘Recycle bin’.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Second-stage recycle bin’ option.

Step 3: After that, select the files that need to be recovered and click on the ‘Restore’ button placed at the top of the screen. All the selected files will be restored to its original location.
