Hello Microsoft team!I cannot tell if this problem is either impossible to fix or just something that cannot be repaired by the troubleshooting options.I usually have to use my USB and open the Media flash drive repair system and click on repair your pc due to the fact that F8 or the other options won’t work from the boot/BSOD error code information screen. It would usually end up rebooting again back into the error screen again. The windows reinstallation of Windows 10 using the USB wouldn’t work due to the corrupted Windows/system32\config\ file corrupted.I have tried all the command prompt s

    Hello Microsoft team!

I cannot tell if this problem is either impossible to fix or just something that cannot be repaired by the troubleshooting options.

I usually have to use my USB and open the Media flash drive repair system and click on repair your pc due to the fact that F8 or the other options won’t work from the boot/BSOD error code information screen. It would usually end up rebooting again back into the error screen again.

The windows reinstallation of Windows 10 using the USB wouldn’t work due to the corrupted Windows/system32\config\ file corrupted.

I have tried all the command prompt scans and troubleshooting commands and other options like

    Startup repair or system restore.

For some reason, i don’t think that being on a different Volume is helping.

    Windows Volume 4

I did have a system restore, but I believe it may have gotten resetted by the Windows reinstallation.

I can’t tell for sure if that is possible or not.

I do not have the option to reset this PC all I can use is the troubleshooting options, device options, or continue or turn off your pc. I also have an option to choose “Use another Operating System”

But when I click on it… it shows this (The image on the top)

I ask myself “What is that?”

I have already tried the system restore before anyways and didn’t work.

    What should I do?

I want to avoid fully factory resetting my pc due to the fact of having past personal files.

Unless if there is an option to reset everything but keep the personal files or saved files in my C:drive

    Reminders:

    Error code: 0xc00000185

    Corrupted File: windows/system32\config\system

    Volume 4

    System restore gone

Troubleshooting options already tried: Startup Repair, command Prompt, uninstall updates.

    Windows 10

    DELL

Ask me questions if you need more detail!

  3. Bad system config info windows 10 on boot up!!!

Finally found the only solution that works. From:

    http://www.windowswally.com/how-to-fix-the-bad_system_config_info-error-in-windows-10/

    Fix The Windows Registry

Boot from a Windows 10 USB/DVD and launch Command Prompt. It is better to use the DVD for this purpose. After that, follow these instructions:

    • Use the following command:

      CD C:\Windows\System32\config

(here C is the partition where Windows is installed).
    • Enter the following commands one by one to rename these files with the .old postfix:

      ren C:\Windows\System32\config\DEFAULT DEFAULT.old

      ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SAM SAM.old

      ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SECURITY SECURITY.old

      ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE SOFTWARE.old

      ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM SYSTEM.old
    • Enter the following commands one by one to copy registry backup files to your current registry folder. This completes the manual restoration of your computer’s registry.
      • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\DEFAULT C:\Windows\System32\config\
      • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SAM C:\Windows\System32\config\
      • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SECURITY C:\Windows\System32\config\
      • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SYSTEM C:\Windows\System32\config\
      • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SOFTWARE C:\Windows\System32\config\

C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is unavailable error on Windows 10

    Hello Vik,

This C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is unavailable error may occur due to corrupt or missing Windows files.

To troubleshoot the issue, you can follow these simple steps:

    • Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile and check if it has the
      Desktop folder there.
    • If the Desktop folder does not exist, then create a new folder and rename it as
Desktop or copy it from C:\users\Default\Desktop.

Note: By default, C:\Users\Default is hidden. To unhide click on the View tab and check the
    Hidden Items box.

After you have created the folder, it is required that you give full permission to the folder. You can follow these steps to give full permission:

    • Right click on the folder, select Properties then click on the Security tab.
    • Click on Edit.
    • On the Permissions for Desktop window, select Everyone and then click on
      Add.
    • In the Enter the object names to select dialog box, type
      Everyone
      and click on Check Names.
    • Click OK.

If you need further assistance, let us know.
