Windows 10: Recovery: 0xc00000185 Windows/system32\config\system file error

Hello Microsoft team!I cannot tell if this problem is either impossible to fix or just something that cannot be repaired by the troubleshooting options.I usually have to use my USB and open the Media flash drive repair system and click on repair your pc due to the fact that F8 or the other options won’t work from the boot/BSOD error code information screen. It would usually end up rebooting again back into the error screen again.The windows reinstallation of Windows 10 using the USB wouldn’t work due to the corrupted Windows/system32\config\ file corrupted.I have tried all the command prompt s

Fix The Windows Registry

Boot from a Windows 10 USB/DVD and launch Command Prompt. It is better to use the DVD for this purpose. After that, follow these instructions:

• Use the following command:
  
  CD C:\Windows\System32\config
  
  (here C is the partition where Windows is installed).
• Enter the following commands one by one to rename these files with the .old postfix:
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\DEFAULT DEFAULT.old
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SAM SAM.old
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SECURITY SECURITY.old
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SOFTWARE SOFTWARE.old
  
  ren C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM SYSTEM.old
• Enter the following commands one by one to copy registry backup files to your current registry folder. This completes the manual restoration of your computer’s registry.
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\DEFAULT C:\Windows\System32\config\
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SAM C:\Windows\System32\config\
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SECURITY C:\Windows\System32\config\
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SYSTEM C:\Windows\System32\config\
  • copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\SOFTWARE C:\Windows\System32\config\

This C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is unavailable error may occur due to corrupt or missing Windows files.

To troubleshoot the issue, you can follow these simple steps:

• Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile and check if it has the
  Desktop folder there.
• If the Desktop folder does not exist, then create a new folder and rename it as
  Desktop or copy it from C:\users\Default\Desktop.

Note: By default, C:\Users\Default is hidden. To unhide click on the View tab and check the
Hidden Items box.

After you have created the folder, it is required that you give full permission to the folder. You can follow these steps to give full permission:

• Right click on the folder, select Properties then click on the Security tab.
• Click on Edit.
• On the Permissions for Desktop window, select Everyone and then click on
  Add.
• In the Enter the object names to select dialog box, type
  Everyone and click on Check Names.
• Click OK.

Windows 10 System 32 Config

Hello,

A few weeks ago my computer was turned off during a power outage. After trying to reboot, I was met with the system recovery screen. I know this is common after power outages, but I tried every single recover technique or guide I could find and none of them
worked. All of my system restore points returned errors when trying to restore from them and eventually disappeared completely. After more than 8 hours of trying to figure out what I could do, I came across a last-ditch effort command sequence that was as
follows:

• C:
• dir
• cd \Windows\System32\config
• md backup
• copy *.* backup
• cd regback
• dir
• copy *.* ..
• A
  

and I could finally boot afterwards (everything seemingly back to normal). The issue I am having is I cannot use any of my Microsoft Office products (I tried every single repair utility, all Microsoft suggested fixes, etc.. and nothing
worked). Whenever I open any Office Product I am asked to log in, after I log in I am met with an error message saying "we ran into a problem while trying to install the product key" (System error: 0x80070057). I have tried different accounts (both with subscriptions)
and both got the same error message. Looking at the commands I used to finally reboot, it looks like I still have the old System32 config file. Should I try to delete the files currently in System32 config and replace the contents with the old files (that
had something to do with failed reboots). Any help is much appreciated!
