Windows 10: "recovery code" vs bitlocker recovery key

From my "Microsoft Account" for security purposes it let me generate a recovery code:"Here is your new recovery code. Print it out and keep it...."From my Account I can als0 see the "bitlocker recovery key". This is a different code from the above. What is the difference between the two and what are the purposes having them? jgn

We understand your concern as the PC is locked with BitLocker and you are unable to retrieve the BitLocker Recovery key from your Microsoft account.



In this situation, we would first suggest you to set the PC to default BIOS settings.



If you still get the option for BitLocker recovery key, then we would suggest you to refer the below article for managing the security info on your Microsoft account and later retrieve the recovery key.

Bitlocker Recovery Key

No, no other accounts.

What puzzles me is why the Bitlocker recovery key is not listed on the microsoft account, but there is a recovery key listed there for a computer I do not recognise.

I have several laptops but only the HP Envy has had Bitlocker on it. So what key is this on my account? And why isn't the Envy key there?
