Windows 10: Recovery Drive App Just shows marching green bar

I am trying to create a recovery flash drive. The Recovery Drive app shows a screen with checkbox for "Back up system files to recovery drive". The checkbox is selected. Then NEXT is clicked.


This produces a Recovery Drive window that says "Please wait" with a bar that shows a green block moving across the bar. It continues forever. It never asks for me to select the USB drive to use.


I did a windows update to the latest system update for march 2021 and tried again. Same issue.



I am at a loss as to what to do next other than stare at a sliding green block. No indication of time to wait, what I'm waiting for, or what I'm waiting to do.

Step 1: Delete Cache and Cookie from Internet Explorer.

  Press Windows key + R key, type

  Delete option.
  

Step 2: Run Internet Explorer Performance troubleshooter.

  Type Troubleshooting in the search bar and select
  Troubleshooting.

  Click on View all in the left panel.

  Find and click on Internet Explorer Performance.
  
• 
  Follow the on-screen instructions.

[HELP]Image recovery issues

Guys i am trying to fix my cousins Asus Eee netbook. It has a backup image file that is partitioned on the hard drive but when I go to use it the app will run through a few steps and stop. It is running Vista . Any suggestions?

 

Unable to create a recovery drive on Windows 10

I have a working USB port, and a working formatted USB stick. A computer with all maintenance checks done.

Following the steps to create a complete system recovery drive.

When the process should show a choice of drives (or just one!) all I get is a progress indicator which continually cycles a green bar - for ever as far as I know.

Is there a solution?
