    Recovery Drive Requires 32gb min

So i got a bunch of kingston 32gb datatravelers to create recovery drives for all of my office computers. windows will not recognize this as large enough for a recovery drive. is there a work around because i know that amount of space will not be used. windows says 32gb required

    :)

Windows 10 recovery drive - space required

I have a PC and a laptop both running Windows 19.

I decided to create recovery drives for both machines, initially thinking I would use DVDs asw I had doen with XP.

I started with the PC, which suggested using a USB, and said it required 8GB of space.

So I purchase 2 16GB USB sticks, one for each machine, and created a recovery drive for the PC.

When I came to the laptop, it said I needed a USB drive with 32GB capacity!

Why does it need four times the space of the PC?

I had include system files checked in both cases.

I even tried system cleanup on the laptop, but it made no difference.

Is there any way I can get the requirement down to a manageable value?

  3. Create a recovery drive formatting 64GB USB drive as 32GB

I have a 64GB USB drive formatted as NTFS but when I try to use it to create a recovery drive, it is reformatted as a 32GB Fat32 drive. I want to use the recovery drive to store the data currently on the hidden recovery partition but the completed recovery
drive only has about 8GB of data on it which is no where near the size of the recovery partition.

Is there a way to make the recovery drive creator use the full capacity of the USB drive?

Windows 10 Recovery Drive Limited to 32GB

    Hello,

I'm trying to use Windows 10's File History program to backup my computer. However, when I use Create A Recovery Drive with my external HDD (~931GB) Windows creates a partition with only 32GB and the rest of the drive is unallocated. I can't extend the volume
in Disk Management ("Extend Volume..." is grayed out, even though the unallocated space is directly adjacent to the new partition) and if I delete the partition to create a new one that spans the entire drive, I'm unable to backup my files in File History
unless I create a new 32GB partition in Create A Recovery Drive. I'd like to be able to backup my files to a partition with more than 32GB of space (ideally the entire drive).

Any help is appreciated, thank you for your time.
