Windows 10: Recovery help when credentials, PIN and Fingerprint is not recognized

After an update last week, I had to use my “recovery code” to reload Windows 11 on my laptop as the system no longer recognized my credentials, PIN nor fingerprint. I can’t explain how I managed to get to the screen on my laptop where I could log into my Microsoft account total fluke, but reloading Windows did not solve the problems. I’ve tried everything and cannot get into my laptop. Unable to Access Windows - PIN and Fingerprint Issues

Hello,

I am experiencing issues accessing my Windows account due to problems with the PIN and fingerprint login. Here are the steps I followed and the issues encountered:

1. I entered an incorrect PIN several times.
   
2. I decided to change the PIN. I successfully logged into my account. and attempted to change the PIN, but an error occurred during the process.
   
3. Now, I am unable to log in using the PIN, and it is blocked for 2 hours.
   
4. I am offered the option to use fingerprint authentication, but it does not work.
   
5. I am not given the option to log in using my password or account credentials, even though I logged in with them when attempting to change the PIN.
   

How can I regain access to Windows?

Windows Hello fingerprint and PIN setup crashes

Hi,

It's odd for your fingerprint not to work after your computer wakes up from sleep mode. The power management settings could have something to do with it. Let's isolate your concern by modifying the power management through Device Manager. Simply follow the
steps below:

• Right-click on the Windows icon on your computer, then select
  Device Manager.
• locate your fingerprint reader, it should be in Biometric Devices section.
• Right click the fingerprint reader, then choose Properties.
• Navigate to Power Management tab, then uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
• Click OK.

We also suggest disabling and enabling the Credential Manager service. Here are the steps on how to do so:

• Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard, then type in services.msc.
• Look for Credential Manager service, then double click on it.
• Under General tab, Select Stop.
• Once you've stopped the service, click on Start to restart the service.
• Click Apply and OK to save the changes.
