Windows 10: Recovery of Windows 10 failed Reset this PC

Dual Boot computer Win 7 and Win 10. Windows 10 was plagued with a problem Kernel Security Check Failure and sometimes IRQL not less or equal or System Service Exception. Tried many suggested fixes with no success. Decided to Reset the PC. While resetting the PC a fault must have occurred and now I have no starting Windows 10 and there are two Windows 10 entries in the boot menu.Thus far I have downloaded the Media Creation Tool and made a USB. Start-Up Repair does not work. System Restore says "To use System Restore you must specify which Windows installation to restore - Restart your comput

• How are you trying to reset?
  
• What happens when you try to reset? Do you read any error code/message upon reset failure?
  
• Are you aware of any changes that happened on the computer prior to this issue?
  

System reset to factory defaults might fail due to a numerous reasons. Ideally, trying system reset using a recovery media or an installation media should help you overcome this. I suggest you to try the methods listed below and
see if it helps.



Method 1

Use a recovery media to reset the PC
and see if it works.



Refer use a recovery drive to restore or reset your PC
section in the article Recovery options in Windows 10 for the same.



If Method 1 fails, try Method 2.



Method 2

If the attempt to reset using recovery drive fails, use installation media to reset your PC.

If all the above methods fail, you may use installation media to reinstall Windows 10.



Note:

Backup your data before performing the above methods.

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
