Recovery Partition in the same Disk with the Primary Partition

Hi... I noticed that my Recovery Partition is in the same Disk with my Primary Partition.

is it gonna cause me a problem if i try to reset my laptop? I think it was supposed to be in a different Disk Partition.

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

Recovery Partition in the same Disk with the Primary Partition

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. I am Harun an Independent Advisor and Microsoft User. I will gladly help you out.

If you only have one HDD present in your laptop then its very normal to have the recovery set on the same disk. This won't cause any issue unless the entire disk breaks or malfunctions which is very less likely.

If you use a USB drive to install windows manually then you will have to option to even delete the recovery partition. Even if you don't delete it you might lose the function of the recovery menu.

If the pc came with windows installed with it then my suggestion would to use its own recovery Menu, or reset windows to factory settings. That will keep the recovery partition in tact and always working.

Please feel free to ask for more Information and let me know if this helps.

    Sincerely

    Independent Advisor
