Windows 10: Recovery software for old Toshiba laptop

Can I get a free recovery for Toshiba laptop C-50.The laptop turns on.But nothing happens after.Tried to reset to factory by F11 but does not reboot.Not sure which window it is-but think its windows8

Reset old Toshiba Tecra A2 laptop?

The link does work.

But if you were using Internet Explorer 8 to access the Net, IE8 is a serious security risk and most websites no longer support it, which means you can't access websites.

Many Toshiba computers/tablets come with the factory software recovery image stored in a special (hidden) area on the hard disk. From this special hidden system recovery image, you can restore your computer to its factory-fresh software condition by following
these steps:

For Windows 7 and Prior versions

1. Make sure the device is turned off ("Shut-down" from the Windows Start menu)
2. Remove any peripherals such an external mouse, keyboard, monitor, USB flash drive etc.
3. Make sure the AC Adapter is plugged in and working.
4. Press and hold down the 0 (zero) key on the keyboard while powering on the computer/tablet. Release it when the recovery warning screen appears.
5. If the recovery process offers a choice of Operating Systems, select the appropriate one for you.
6. A warning screen appears, stating that when the recovery is executed all data will be deleted and rewritten.
7. Click Yes to continue.
8. When the Toshiba Recovery Wizard opens select "Recovery of Factory Software" or the appropriate option for your needs.
9. Continue to follow the directions restarting as necessary.

 

No USB ports working on toshiba laptop

Hi guys,

Got an old Toshiba laptop, satellite l500d pslk0a-00r009
Its old and doesn't officially support win10. However I have it installed and everything works fine except USB. All the ports seem completely dead, plugging in a USB mouse I get no light on the mouse. USB flash drives don't work either. This was previously working under win7.

The issue seems to be I don't have "Generic USB hub" in device manager. Have tried to manually install it using add legacy hardware but it wont take. I have several USB root hub and others listed, but not the generic hub.

Here's what I have tried so far:

Uninstall all USB device in device managers and reboot
Confirmed BIOS is latest version
tried both legacy and compatibly USB mode in BIOS
Download and install generic win10 USB drivers
Disable USB power saving mode
Installed toshiba's service center, no updates available
Ran MS troubleshooter/fixit

I think the next step is to give up, but does anyone else have any suggestions?
