Windows 10: Recycle bin on F:\ is corrupted do you want to delete the files? Keeps looping.

So I plugged my hard drive into my computer with some video files and a few other filed and some files for a program I use. and I turned it on today and my computer keeps saying that F:\ recycle bin is corrupted and it keeps looping it. Please help

To prevent your files from being deleted from the Recycle Bin, we suggest increasing the maximum file size your Recycle Bin can keep by following the steps below:

• Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
• Under the Settings for selected location, select Custom size.
• Fill up the box for your allotted maximum file size for your Recycle Bin.

Recycle Bin is corrupted

Each drive contains a hidden Recycle Bin system folder, which are hidden and is used as a temporary storage when you delete files on that drive. Just as any other system files, it can also be corrupted and thus, giving you this error message. With that being
said, can you tell us if this F: drive that you have is a USB flash drive or a
portable hard drive? Please advise.

In the mean time, I suggest that you perform SFC scan on your external storage device and see if it helps. Here's how:

1. Type cmd on the Cortana search box, right click on the result and select
   Run as administrator.
2. Type sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=f:\ /OFFWINDIR=c:\windows

NOTE: replace c:\windows with the correct
drive letter if Windows is installed on a different drive. Hit the Enter key and wait until the scan is finished.

Another step that I can suggest is to reset the Recycle Bin only to the F: drive and see if it helps.

1. Launch cmd as an administrator.
2. Type rd /s /q F:\$Recycle.bin
3. Hit the enter key.
4. Restart your PC.

Retrieve deleted files from corrupted recycle bin

I accidentally deleted my inbox.pst, and when i tries to retrieve it from the recycle bin, I cannot access any files there.

After checking this forum and elsewhere on the net, I have concluded that my recycle bin is corrupted, but nearly all the solutions so far suggest to use the command:

rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin

Maybe my recycle bin is reset with this command, but it also deletes the content for ever, and that is critical, and must not happen!

I need to recover the file.

(My backup is too old to help me out with the critical emails lost with this pst file.)

Any suggestions?
