    Red Cross Through Speaker after Driver Update


    Hello,


    So I downloaded DriverMax and updated all drivers. After doing this and restarting my laptop, there is a red cross through the speaker icon in the taskbar. When hovered over, it says something along the lines of “no audio output”. I’ve gone into the settings and there is no option for my speakers or anything.

    When plugging in a headset, it recognises it. But it still will not recognise the laptop speakers.


    I’ve tried restarting, and I have also tried to do the system restore via DriverMax, to before I updated the drivers. But it seems to be taking ages...


    What can I do? Does anyone know a fix?

    My speaker with a Red-Cross

    Hello CraigLong:

    As you suggested that HP told me to download the new Conexant HD Audio Driver.

    After installing the new driver, the "red-cross on the speaker" went away immediately.

    My speaker with a Red-Cross

    Hello all:

    Right now in the low-right-tray, my speaker-with-a-Red-Cross. No sound at all!

    It says:

    No Audio output Device is installed.

    I did it's troubleshooting. After automatic scanning, it says:

    Troubleshooting couldn't identified the problem

    My speaker never has problem and 20-minute ago, Cortana just spoke

    to me.
