  1. Red x next to audio icon when I have headphones plugged in.

whenever I run my mouse over the icon it says No speakers or headphones are plugged in. but I have headphones plugged in. I've tried restarting my computer and that doesn't fix it, I've had this problem for about a week now and didn't have it before.

    :)

  2. DTS Audio Control and headphone plug

    Hi Terry,

This issue with the DTS Audio Control can be caused by system corruption on the application itself. As an initial troubleshooting step, we suggest that you uninstall the application. Here's how:

    • Type DTS in the search field at the task bar.
    • Right-click on the DTS Audio Control in the results.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Once done, proceed with installing it back.

You can also check out with HP as the manufacturer of this application for any updated drivers that can help to resolve the issue.

You may try to plug in the headphone again once the issue has been resolved. If it is the same, try a different headphone and let us know about the results.

Should you need additional assistance, do let us know.

  3. Red X by my speaker icon.

Red X by my speaker icon. Message says "No Audio Output Device Installed" but the speakers are plugged in and work fine. I checked them on another computer.

Red x next to audio icon when I have headphones plugged in.

When I try to plug in my gaming headset, the volume icon has a red "X" and says "No speakers or headphones are plugged in.", How can I solve this?

When I try to plug in my gaming headset into my computer, the volume icon has a red "X" and says "No speakers or headphones are plugged in.", although it was just working hours before? Is this a driver issue?
