    Red X over speaker icon and no sound after Windows 10 update


    I woke up to my computer having updated itself, and also to there being no sound. If I go to the properties it says "no audio devices are installed"; the troubleshooter doesn't find anything wrong. I've spent an hour trying different things to fix it (I've uninstalled-reinstalled the drivers multiple times at this point) but nothing is working, does anyone know of a way to fix it that hasn't been posted already? I haven't even had this computer for a year I really can't afford to get a new one because I can't use audio when I need it...

    Red X by my speaker icon.

    Red X by my speaker icon. Message says "No Audio Output Device Installed" but the speakers are plugged in and work fine. I checked them on another computer.

    Red X on speaker icon after Fall Creators Update

    After i reboot my pc sometimes (quite often) the audio icon has a red X over it. Audio works properly, but when i click on the icon (to change audio source for example) Windows runs the problems detector, than i get the normal speaker icon back, until i
    reboot again...

    Never had this issue until i updated to fall creator update.

    It's pretty annoying, any fix?
