Windows 10: Redact black & white PNG image in Paint 3D, saved file is 250% bigger

I scanned a document page in 200 dpi Black and White, then saved it as PNG. It was 120KB. I used Paint 3D to draw a few small black rectangles over personal details, then saved it as PNG. The result was 280KB. I did not have the options of specifying black and white.Is there another way to perform simple redaction on a PNG image without grossly inflating the size of the file?

You may try the steps listed below and check if it works:

Run App troubleshooter

• Refer to
  fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store.
  

Reset Paint 3D app:

• Open ‘Settings’ and click on ‘Update and Security’.
  
• Click on ‘Apps’ and choose ‘Apps and features’.
  
• Locate the ‘Paint 3D’ app and click on it.
  
• Select ‘Advanced options’ and choose ‘Reset’.
  
• Wait for the reset to complete.
  
• Close settings, launch ‘Paint 3D’ and try saving now.

1. In which format are you saving the file? (Ex: Image, 3D model or 3D project)
   
2. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to this issue?
   
3. Have you installed all the pending updates on the PC?
   

Suggest you to run the
apps troubleshooter to fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store and restart the PC to check if that makes any difference.

3d Paint Files

Is it possible to save a 3d paint file image to .png? I know it can be saved as a 2d image I need the 3d image file?

Why does microsoft use file extensions glb, fbx, & 3mf

Also is it possible to save 3d files in video format?
