Windows 10: Redeeming live access key for Fallout 3

I have a physical copy of fallout 3 but no optical drive on my laptop. I would like to activate this key on my windows live account to be able to download and play it. Is there a way to do this or is my copy of the game worthless?

When playing Fallout 3 on your computer, you will be asked for your Live Access key. This is where you will enter the key that you had. You need to make sure that it is the key that you used under the same Live profile. Do you play the game under Steam client?

fallout 3 will not open

hi there readers. I bought fallout 3:special edition (in disc form) and installed both discs on my laptop. When I went back to disc 1 to open it ,the menu was there, but when I pressed start, it said ``could not locate file in c:/windows/system32/xlive.dll``.

I found someone with a similar problem ,but when I tried the suggestion given, I realised that I wasn't signed into Xbox live I'm not sure what to do
