Redesigned Microsoft Store on Windows 10 is now available for everyone

Earlier this month, Microsoft started rolling out a new design for the Microsoft Store on Windows 10. At that time, the redesigned store was available for the Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Ring. Today, the redesigned Microsoft Store is widely rolling out to the general public.

Microsoft Store features a new design that aligns closely with the web version and we’re seeing the new design on some of our non-Insider machines today. The latest version of Microsoft Store is 11807.1001.13 but the new design should show up in older versions as it looks to be a server-side update that is rolling out gradually.

Once you get the new design, you’ll notice that the store looks more like a web wrapper of the Microsoft Store website. Just like on the web, it’s now possible to remotely install app or game on any Windows 10 device such as a laptop, 2-in-1, PC, desktop and even Xbox One console that is linked to your Microsoft account.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft has removed the ability to pin the library section to the start menu which was present in the older version.

If you already have the new Microsoft design, let us know your thoughts about it in the comments below.

  2. Microsoft signals end of Paint program

Microsoft has confirmed that it will continue to offer its graphics program Paint.

In a recent update, it had listed Paint as a feature that would be either removed or no longer developed.

Paint, renowned for its simplicity, has been part of the Windows operating system since its launch in 1985.

Microsoft suggested it would not remain on Windows 10 by default but did say it would be available for free on the Windows Store.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Launch the Store from your Start menu.
    • Click the user icon next to the search box.
    • Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
    • Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
    • When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”
