Windows 10: Reduce screenshot file size.

The screenshots that I take on my 17" HP Envy i7 regularly exceed 10MB. This is too big a file size; it takes up a lot of storage and means I can't paste them directly into messages due to file size limits. I use Windows 11.Is there a way that I can make have my laptop produce smaller screenshots; for the screenshot itself to be 5MB or under when it's taken? I know that I can use various software to make an image smaller my default has been to paste it into Word, then copy and paste it where I need. But this takes extra time and is very frustrating, so I have no interest in such 'solutions

The screenshots are always full screen. And, reducing the size of the screenshot doesn't change anything.

Ex.: I can take 2 screenshots of the same full screen, within 10 seconds (without changing anything) and, when I look in my file explorer, the identical pictures are different size (like I said in my first post), like 1000 KB of difference.

Good way to reduce video size without compromising quality?

My camcorder records videos at 1080p however a short 4 minute video is a whopping 550MB.

What would you suggest to compress or otherwise reduce the size of the file without reducing the quality?

The format is MTS.

It depends on the resolution or the aspect of the screen you are taking a screenshot of: full desktop versus a window or dialog box.

You can use Paint to resize the screenshot to reduce the file size.
