I had a pair of 2TB HDDs that were a Storage Space pool. Recently, I replaced those two HDDs with a single 4TB SSD, removing them from my computer. My original plan was to reformat them and use them as external storage. I did not know that it would be important to remove them both from the storage space, so I connected one to my computer with a SATA to USB cable, deleted the storage space, reformatted the drive, and it works fine. Now, when I plug in the other one the same way, it appears as shown below in Disk Management and Device Manager, and whenever I try to initialize it or do anything w

Do not use storage spaces -- mega problems !!!

    Hi folks

sometimes when restoring different or earlier images of windows 10 after you've defined a storage space / storage pool on a later version you can't even see the HDD's in the storage pool even with DISKPART in admin mode.

Strangely enough though AOMEI partition manager can see them so you can reformat / delete and then get access to the HDD's as normal disks again.

Minitool partition wizard failed totally to see the HDD's at all.

I'd suggest unless you are really brave leave Windows storage spaces well alone !!!!

    Bad one Microsoft !!!

    Cheers

Windows 10 Reformat + Storage Spaces

I have Windows 10 installed on my C drive. In addition to that, I have a large storage space (pool?) setup with 5 other hard drives (not my C drive). If I use the windows 10 clean/reformat feature to reformat my C drive, will that erase any of my data
on the storage space or drives?

Windows 10 Reformat + Storage Spaces

Thank you. My "storage space" does not include my C drive (C drive has windows). Once i reformat, will windows 10 recognize the "storage space" that is made up of other drives?
