Windows 10: "Refresh" on Windows 10

I had some major problems with Windows 10 when my cats decided to tap dance on the keyboard. Decided my best action was to use the "refresh" option to reset everything. Sounded good. Now I have no idea where or what browser I am using, where my email is going, how to get lost passwords, of which there are many. Have search for information on what to do. No luck. As a matter of information, I was using Hotmail which I understand converts to Outlook. Can I "refresh" again. The refresh process was very confusing to me while trying to implement. I am not totally ignorant about computer

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

  In search type Mail app.

  In top right corner you will find a refresh button
  
• 
  Click on refresh button and check if it sync with the account
