Windows 10: Regain full control of my account with password, but not 2fa

Someone got my password and removed all my authentication methods and added their own 2fa to the account, and also changed the account email from duyn26364@gmail to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. However, I used the account recovery form to reset the password, and I still have access to the account, although I cannot change anything due to the 2fa. Is there a way to regain full control of the account, and can the other guy also reset the password?

2FA on account

Hi, I wanted to add 2FA on a microsoft account. I use the default mail app on 2 windows 10 pc's with outlook email addresses. I assumed when I activated 2FA that I would need to create an app password for each of the pc's. Do they need new app passwords or will they continue to work as before with 2FA enabled. Hope this makes sense thanks

thanks again for the detailed replies. - - - Updated - - - i'm a bit confused about the bitwarden site, Field Guide to Two-Step Login | Bitwarden Help Center they suggest using Authy themselves, lol, but it seems to suggest the 2FA 6-digit code is only available on their mobile app? or do they mean you just need it on the phone to scan the QR?
