Windows 10: Regarding System Reserved Partition, partition size, etc while doing clean install

Hi,

I have HP ENVY 15-k203TX Notebook PC and it came with preinstalled Windows 8.1 64-bit OS, then upgraded to Windows10. At present, planning to do clean install and install "Windows 10 October 2020 Update" . My total single Hard disk capacity is 1TB.

At present it has one Partition of C drive and another partition of HP Recovery windows 8.1 + HP - preinstalled by HP.
1 So while clean installing shall I delete HP Recovery partition I think which is no use in future

2 Default Windows System Reserved Partition is 500MB but it gets full very quickly by windows and antivirus. Therefore how much space should be allotted for Windows System Reserved Partition.

3a For Programs do I allot separate partition for it or shall I save all the programs installation in c drive itself. If I allot separate partition for Programs then what size will be sufficient for it.

OR

3b If I install programs in C then how much size should I allot for C drive.



4 How to calculate MB to make it perfect 100GB while creating partition.

Partition Sizes?

My new system has 2 150 g Raptors in Raid0. I normally keep the O/S on one partition, installed applications on another, and my paging file on another partition. With a volume size of 300 gigs, what would you suggest as far as partition sizes are concerned?

Windows 10 clean install mess up partitions?

No. I have such setup since Windows XP and it works great. 50GB chuck of drive is reserved for system partition and data partition is the remaining disk size. When installing new OS, I just delete the first partition, recreate new one and install OS. System is installed clean each time and all the existing data remains where it was, on the secondary data partition. This way you can change systems in matter of hours without any fiddling with your stored data.

What that reference does is remove the fonts folder which gives a little more room. You are trying to increase the size of the System Reserved Partition so it will be large enough.

As Greg says, you need to move the front of the C partition and leave unallocated space so you can extend the System Reserved partition into that space.

I normally use the Bootable version of Partition Wizard to do that.

Doing this can be dangerous so backup whatever you can.

I suppose the utility you use to image your drive may be taking space from the System Reserved partition..

I an couple of weeks, the next new build upgrade could be released. You may want to start getting your system ready so you can do a clean install with it..
