I chose to clear only the C drive when resetting the systemSo after resetting the system, the file permissions retained by the D and E disks are still the same as before showing unknown accountsMay I ask how to delete all unknown accounts on the computer and transfer the permissions of these files to the current account

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Permissions Issues

Hooray!!!! Thanks so much, you are a superstar. Issue resolved.

I thought the fact that "Administrators" were listed in the permissions meant that all Admins had access, but apparently not. Now I added my specific login account, it works fine.

Thanks so much for your help, these UAC things in Windows are quite confusing, I am not (entirely) stupid!!

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown Regarding the issue of account permissions after resetting the system in Windows 11 :(

Regarding the issue of account permissions after resetting the system in Windows 11

    User account permissions need resetting.

I've converted my administrator account to a standard user account and created a new administrator account.

As a standard user I am able to access the admins user folder which I should not be able to do. There must some issues with the permissions somewhere but I'm not sure how to go about troubleshooting it.
@fdegrove has already suggested running an acl.bat as detailed here, post #39 https://www.tenforums.com/antivirus...unt-necessary-tight-security-home-user-4.html

but it has not fixed my user permissions.

    Has anyone got any ideas?
