Windows 10: RegBack missing

in the last week I have done a fresh install of winsdows 1809 on a machine; THREE TIMES now, it works ok for a while, two days the first time, one day the second, and just finished the third one now; then on start up it goes into the blue screen repair loop, it doesn't let you use restore points and I am forced to do a fresh install as RegBack is empty.

First time I thought that I messed something up while configuring windows adding RAM, installing a graphic card and installing programs, while uninstalling all the win10 nonsense Apps; Second time round only configured windows, uninstalled nonsense Apps, and only added office 2007.

This time the only setting I have changed is to disable the fast shoot down on the power button setting, and installed the windows updates... Let's see how long before it crashes....

By the way first thing that I have checked as soon as the last install finished was the RegBack folder....EMPTY????? Actually both empty





As I am no pretty sure that this install won't be lasting long... and I will be faced with a booting blue screen loop again … where do I find or make sure that windows is making a registry back up?

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

syskey scam & regback folder

My father recently fell for a scam and allowed someone to remotely access his computer (running Windows 10) and enacted syskey encryption on the SAM registry hive (I learned this jargon by reading about the scam online), locking him out of his computer.
He paid up and they gave him the password, but he is worried that problems may persist. So, I am looking for ways to help.

(1) The regback file and its contents are still on his computer, and I have found instructions on how to use them to restore the registry files. However, it shows that the files have been updated on a date that is after the date my father gave them control.
Are they still good? Have the scammers changed them (can they do that?)? Or has the computer created a backup that, because of its later date, contains the changes that the scammers put in?

(2) Assuming I can't simply restore using the regback file on his computer, can I restore by copying the regback file on my Windows 10 computer, and past them into the config folder?

(3) If none of that works, would reinstalling Windows 10 fix all of the problems.
