Windows 10: Regback no longer working in Win10v2004

Discus and support Regback no longer working in Win10v2004 in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I used to run the following command in a bat file (to back up my Registry hives) which worked just fine in Windows 10 v1909: schtasks /run /i /tn...     Regback no longer working in Win10v2004


    I used to run the following command in a bat file (to back up my Registry hives) which worked just fine in Windows 10 v1909: schtasks /run /i /tn "\Microsoft\Windows\Registry\RegIdleBackup"

    However, it no longer works in v2004, even though I get a "SUCCESS" message from the command prompt after I run it:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>schtasks /run /i /tn "\Microsoft\Windows\Registry\RegIdleBackup"
    SUCCESS: Attempted to run the scheduled task "\Microsoft\Windows\Registry\RegIdleBackup".

    It shouldn't be a 'write permission' error since v1909 allowed be to do this, but if it is, how do I correct that?

    Did the regback display sizable files or 0?
    If it worked how often do you run the command?

    Hi, have you enabled Regback?
    Enable Automatic Backup of System Registry when Restart in Windows 10

    If you enabled it in 1909, there's no guarantee it's enabled after the upgrade to 2004.

    Further- as MS disabled it, there's no guarantee it can be re-enabled in 2004 as I've not yet heard of anyone doing so..

    You hit the nail on the head! I had to recreate the DWORD in the Registry, reboot, and all is well!
