    RegEdit - Can I delete this ?

When I open "Regedit" - "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" and "HKEY_USERS" a number of points that has the same name.

Can these are marked on the image be deleted or they still have a function. ?

What software is the best reg cleaner (currently using "CCleaner")

  3. Can anyone help whats this in Regedit weird code is it virus or have I been got

    Thankyou for replying ,

since feature update this turned up when I was looking at upper and lower filters in regedit no dvd or other drives showing ip in explorer and device manager.

Hp advised me to update all drivers and i did this however these characters were there directly after featured update I downloaded latest win 10 update assistance which only assisted with the feature 1709 16299.19 update then after restart i went directly
to hp for their updates their assistance made no changes what so ever I then went to the insiders feedback pages to read of this errors and workarounds back in 2014 being tested all these exact problems have been well documented and yet I am able to find possible
fix workarounds but no changes forthcoming as yet now 10.40am friday the 10th of November 2017 Sydney Australia 2229

i would have hoped someone has fixed these issues before and seeing this come back to bite us isnt by misfortune or error its a calculated re run of a OS that had been through insiders community all with your own hundreds of consumers experiencing the same
missing dvd issues and same errors with net framework actually everything I have tried has been patched then we were sent it out as our bug filled featured update well most users have gone to lengths to obtain proof of these happening after this update is
around the world global errors on a massive scale

    regards

    RegEdit - Can I delete this ?

My advice is don't. Deleting stuff without knowing what they do is very risky. Windows 10 does not really care if there is stuff in registry if it does not use it.

Registry cleaners are like powersaws - in the wrong hand, you can cause chaos.

If you are going to mess around deleting stuff, make a full image backup of pc first.

If you don't know for sure what you are going to delete in your registry, then I suggest you don't remove ANYTHING!!! CCleaner is a SAFE registry cleaner. You should also ALWAYS make a Complete Image Backup of your C drive, lots of us use Macrium Reflect which is a Very Good backup program and is Free.

None of the items in the screenshot have the same name. If you look closely you will see that some of the names are very similar but by no means the same. They are all unique, all important. VERY important.

Regedit is a very powerful and useful tool. But like all such it requires considerable knowledge and skill to be used safely and effectively. In the hands of a skilled surgeon a scalpel is a life saving tool. In the hands of the unskilled it is a dangerous weapon. Huge difference.

There are a couple of important things about Regedit that are important to know but far from obvious:

    1. In a typical text editor making changes to a file is a 2 step process. You make the editing changes and when you are satisfied you click save. In Regedit there is no save function. All changes are immediate.

    2. Most text editors have an undo facility. Regedit has no undo of any kind. All changes are permanent.

The only way to recover from a mistake in Regedit is restoring from a backup. That assumes you made one before the changes were made.

Most computer users should consider the registry as read only. Look but don't touch, and even then exercise due caution. That goes double for keys like HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_USERS, and others as well. This is for experts only who REALLY understand what they are doing. It only takes a few mouse clicks to do extensive damage.
