Windows 10: REGEDIT - Request - List of what each UI element is called according to the 'color' section.

First - let me thank anyone who felt the need to stop by to help, or is just curious, Welcome and Thank you again.Second - I always have a backup and so should you; Registry edits can seriously hamper your workflow or even break Windows altogether if done incorrectly.Now, fiddling with settings and making my machine different from the core experience has always been something I enjoy. However this machine in question is at my work and time being money - I can't afford to go down the list of variables and restarting just to see what changed.Ideally someone could point me to a resource that shows what the UI elements are named in registry according to the color section, however my problem IS specific to a program so perhaps with additional info, another solution can be found. This AutoCAD Window is the problem, where in Windows 7 we were able to get the background to be dark like it is in the image, Windows 10 does not have the same advanced options, making me think a regedit is my only option. No other things in Windows or CAD needs their color changed - so I would be happy with any solution, Thanks!

I would put the start and finish times in a custom class then add an instance of the class to a List<class>. That way you only have one list and that one list contains everything relevant. If you want to go a step further, I would add an accessor called Duration that returns Finish - Start. Put it all together, you could do something like list[9].Duration to get how long task 9 took. Ideally, this custom class would contain everything relevant to the job (even the job itself) so this all happens in isolated code.

To remove elements from a list, use .Remove(index) or .Remove(copy of instance). If it is in a for loop, make sure to run the loop in reverse (i-1) otherwise it will freak out.

If this isn't homework and the code is something that can be made public, I could take a look and/or optimize it for you so you can see a working example of what I'm talking about.

Create EventInfo class with DateTime EventStart, DateTime EventEnd, and a TimeSpan property Duration (with only getter) that gets EventEnd-EventStart.
Then you keep the list of EventInfo instances.

 

How to customize UI colors?

I am trying to customize colors of windows and native elements.

Mainly I want to set the color of UI elements to something different than 100% white,

say for example 90% white. Pure white hurts my eyes and in the end of the

day I have issues with eyes. I need a way to setup several color schemes for

different lighting.

After some search I've found out that one option is to use the so-called "High contrast theme".

Is it the proper way to customize UI colors? It sounds weird because I just want to adjust the UI colors

to reduce eye strain, not much to do with high contrast.

I tried it and it worked for some settings: I can set up some colors now.

I really like that I can set the global color for elements, such as window background, button face.

But there appear many issues with UI.

Issues that are most annoying with High contrast on:

1.

Colors of many elements borders and separators are same as text color, in my case - all

black (because I use black for text), and therefore most native UI looks awful.

I cannot find anything that can adjust border colors separately.

This is very frustrating. I've spent 2 days and found nothing that helps with that.

For example this is a GUI of one notepad++ dialog:





Further, all buttons and the scroll bar are converted to same 1 px black frames.

This looks bad and it is hard to believe such setup could be made intentionally.

2.

Color of the taskbar is set to window bg color and there is no way to

set its color separately. It looks bad with light bg. Also some elements in

the taskbar appear with 1 px border and I cannot get rid of this.








Questions:

- Where are options to customize important colors such as borders, separators, taskbar?

- Why is it called "High contrast theme" and not just "custom theme"?

- If I should not use High contrast theme - then how to customize colors?
