registry edit controlling screen rotation randomly reverts to 0

About once a week I turn on my Surface Book 2 and find that the rotation is locked- and the rotation lock is greyed out. This is what gets greyed out: I can go to registry edit and change the enable screen rotation to a value of 1 and it fixes it. However, maybe a few hours or a few days later it reverts back to 0 value which locks my screen up again. While I am happy that I have a way to fix this issue I am disturbed that some other process is altering my registry edit to change the value to 0 and lock my screen rotation. This does not coincide with any updates that get installed. This mor

  2. Auto rotation

    Hello,

Let us isolate your concern by answering the questions below:

    • What is the make and model of your device?
    • Have you checked on the action center if there is a Rotation lock option?
In the meantime, we suggest that you check the Screen Resolution display to check if there is a setting to allow the screen to auto-rotate. Here are the steps:

    • Go to Control Panel.
    • Search for Display and then click Change display settings.
    • Mark the checkbox beside Allow the screen to auto-rotate option if possible.
    • Click Apply and then OK.
We are looking forward to your response.

  3. screen rotation Windows 10

    Hi Burto,

There's a possibility that the rotation lock is turned On on your tablet. Since rotation lock is missing in action center, let's get into the
Settings to verify whether it's turned On or Off. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Settings, then System.
    • Tap Display.
    • Look for Lock rotation of this display and make sure to set it to OFF.

You may also get into the Control Panel settings. Here's how:

    • Open Control Panel.
    • Tap Display, then Change Display Settings.
    • Make sure to check Allow the screen to auto-rotate.

Let us know if you need further help.

    Regards.

    screen rotation

    Hi Brandon,

There are several reasons why the screen of your netbook is not rotating. One common reason is the auto rotation feature is locked, you can check it by following these steps:

    • On your keyboard, press Windows + A.
    • Click Expand.
    • Click Rotation lock, and make sure it is turned off.
    • Test your netbook if it's properly rotating.

    Keep us updated.

    Regards.
