  1. Registry Editor Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT "Default" Value Data Original?

I messed with the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT "Default" file and I tried to put it as exefile but that was not the original. The original "Value Data" had some underscores and I cant remember what it was. I can't open any app even snip to show what I mean. It opens then after about a second it freezes and closes. I would like to know the original "Value Data" of this.Thank you for reading this.Using Windows 10

    missig registry values

Hi Alastor, OK, let us see if we can manually fix the file association . . .

Click your Start Button, type regedit and hit enter

In the Registry Editor, navigate to:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT - .exe

In the right pane, double click (Default) key and set Data value to exefile

Then Navigate to (note you will have to scroll a long way down past all the entries beginning with (dot) and then down to keys beginning with e:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT - exefile shell\open\command

In the right pane select (Default), double click it and set its Value data to “%1” %*
