    Type "winver" from your dos prompt (ADMIN) then tell us what version you are running.....Latest version is 1511 Build 10586.36

    Even if you Reset this PC or do a clean install of Win 10 does regedit.exe crash? I have installed a few systems and have yet seen this.

    You really should try and get over Regedit crashing. It chokes on a certain key. Some systems may not have that key. Yes, Regedit should never do that, regardless of the key. But that may be the reason why it works on some systems. I've provided free alternative registry editors above. Get one and be done with it.

    No offense, but not helpful. I am trying to solve the same problem here and looking for clarification on your post(s).

    this is NOT an option.

    Second try. So, where would one get 10240?

    You would have to have an old version on the Windows 10 iso saved on your computer. Unless you can find it somewhere on the web.
    Have you tried resetting your Windows 10?? Or running sfc /scannow to see if it reports any problems??
    Another choice is to run Dism command: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and see what it may report.
    another choice would be to download a 3rd party regedit program.
