  1. Registry Editor "TaskbarSi" line no longer resizes taskbar

Since I updated to Windows 11 I'm now on version 10.0.22621, I've been using RegEdit to set Taskbar Size to 0, as described in many places online. However, I've recently started my computer to find that is no longer working, and I'm stuck with the enormous Win11 default taskbar.I've checked my registry and I still have the TaskbarSi line set to 0, so I'm not sure what's stopping that from actually taking effect. I've followed the steps in the final reply to this post, which details disabling a registry edit policy, but my Policy folder doesn't contain a "TaskbarNoResize" file or an explorer

    Taskbar icon size

When I first upgraded to Windows 11, the one problem I had was the size of the icons in the Taskbar. Being visually changed, they were just too small.

After some digging, I found a YouTube video by Kevin Stratvert ( ), that, in five steps, resolved the issue. This made the icons about the same size as small desktop icons (Ctrl+Shift+4). This was perfect and I have been quited satisfied with Windows 11 ever since.

    Resize icons on taskbar:

    1. Location in registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
    2. Click New and then DWORD (32-bit) Value
    3. Set the name of the DWORD Value as “TaskbarSi” and hit the Enter key to save changes.
    4. Large taskbar – TaskbarSi value 2
    5. Restart Windows Explorer

Since applying 2023-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022913), the icons have reverted tom the original small size, so again, they are difficult to interpret quickly. I have removed the TaskbarSI from the registry and restarted Windows Explorer, the went through the steps above (adding TaskbarSi back), to no avail.

Has anyone else encountered this and are there any known tweaks that will restore the icons to their larger size.

Windows 10 Taskbar resizes after full screen game or attached to an external monitor

    Hi Ed,

To prevent the taskbar to keep resizing after the full screen was used on Windows 10. There are a couple of options to resolve this concern.

    Option 1. Registry Editor

We suggest that you follow these steps if you are using Windows Home Edition:

    • Right click the Start Menu, then select Run.
    • Type in regedit and click OK.
    • Follow these commands on the Registry Editor: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.
    • Change the DWORD value to 1. If you don't see the
DWORD TaskbarLockAll, create it like the image below, and make sure the value is 1:

    5. Close the Registry Editor window and restart the computer.

Option 2. Local Group Policy Editor

We suggest that you follow these steps, if you are using Windows 10 Professional Edition:

    • Go to search at the bottom left of the screen, type in Local Group Policy Editor
and press Enter to open it.
    • Follow these commands on the Local Group Policy Editor window: User Configuration > Admin Templates > Start Menu & Taskbar.
    • Search for the Lock all taskbar settings, right click on it and select
Properties, and change the setting to Configured,
      like the image below:

    4. Change to Disable or Do not configure. For your information, this setting the user will be able to set any taskbar setting that is not disallowed by another policy setting.

    5. Close the Local Group Policy Editor window and restart the computer.

Let us know what option works for you and if you need further assistance.
