Registry editor tdrdelay set to 10 and updated, pc doesn't turn on

Hello, my pc had what I believe is a firmware update before which I had edited the tdrdelay to 10 using registry editor and restarted it. The keyboard didn't work after which I restarted again, this time the pc won't power on and the power button glows for a few seconds and stops

    tdrDelay question

Hello , sorry about your problems. My name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

This issue might be caused by insufficient permissions, group policy settings, or antivirus software restrictions.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    Update permissions:

-Press the Windows key + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.

-Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers registry key.

-Right-click on the GraphicsDrivers key and select Permissions.

-Click on the Advanced button and ensure that your user account has full control over the key.

-Apply the changes and close the Registry Editor.

    Check Group Policy settings:

-Press the Windows key + R, type gpedit.msc, and hit Enter.

-Navigate to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Prevent access to registry editing tools.

-If the setting is enabled, disable it and apply the changes.

    Temporarily disable antivirus software:

-Disable your antivirus software temporarily and try modifying the TdrDelay value again. If the changes are saved after disabling the antivirus, consider adding an exception for the Registry Editor in your antivirus settings.

After trying these steps, modify the TdrDelay value again and restart your computer to see if the changes persist.

Remember to re-enable your antivirus software after completing these steps to ensure your system remains protected.

group policy editor VS registry settings

ALL settings are applied through the registry. The Group Policy Editor is just a GUI with a set of templates containing the registry settings required. Microsoft publish this spreadsheet listing all the policies and the registry settings they use.
