Windows 10: Registry modification

I'm trying to get more control over updates given a serious crash while one of my laptops was backing up at the same time, resulting in an unusable PC and ultimately a "reset". I have added a registry key which prompts that an update is available that allows me to backup before the update to prevent a repeat of the failure. The key adds "WindowsUpdate, AU" then a DWORD "AUOptions" and a hex number for the desired effect. I have made this addition to a Windows 10 Pro machine which works perfectly, but it doesn't seem to work on my Windows 10 Home laptops. Does anyone know if there is some restr
