  1. REINSTALL AFTER HDD TO SSD (not procedure question)

I had my Dell Inspiron 5559 Toshiba 1tb (came with laptop) stop mechanically working and decided to upgrade to a Samsung 860 SSD.

I purchased this laptop refurbished and it DID NOT come with a installation disc. I downloaded windows 10 Home ISO to a thumb drive and got the system back up and running.

My question is how do I get the original version that was on there when I purchased it? Now I'm not talking about all my data and programs settings ECT but simply about the operating system.

When I first got the unit I DID NOT register it with Microsoft but after the new install I did I was so frazzled during the installation after much frustrating of getting it to work I cannot honestly remember if it REQUIRED me to register before going on with the process or not.

That all aside is there some way to link this particular unit with what version was installed based on it's build number or another means.

I Know for a fact it was not the home addition but honestly I have no idea which other it was.

    Thank you for any help.

  2. SSD failure and Windows 10 reinstall. How to restore apps from HDD.

My Acer desktop computer originally had a 16 GB SSD that held the Windows 10 installation (upgraded from Windows 8). It also has a 2 TB HDD that contains all other applications and files. The original SSD recently failed, preventing me from booting, so I
replaced the SSD with a SanDisk 128 GB model. I then reinstalled Windows 10 on the new SSD using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. While I was performing the installation, I disconnected the HDD to ensure I didn't accidentally overwrite anything there.

My question now is, how do I get the new installation of Windows (on the new SSD) to recognize the applications I had installed on the HDD? I can use File Explorer to browse the files and applications stored there, but Windows obviously no longer has any
of the apps registered as being installed. The SSD is now listed as the (CREINSTALL AFTER HDD TO SSD (not procedure question) :) drive and the HDD is listed as the (DREINSTALL AFTER HDD TO SSD (not procedure question) :) drive. Before, the HDD was (CREINSTALL AFTER HDD TO SSD (not procedure question) :) and the SSD was the (XREINSTALL AFTER HDD TO SSD (not procedure question) :) drive.

    Thanks,

    Tim

  3. HDD to new SSD Question

I'm going to upgrade my laptop with a SSD along side my HDD which currently has windows 10 on it, or course. My question is, is it possible to move that version of windows 10 on the new SSD and boot it from there or do I just have to run a clean version
    from the SSD?

REINSTALL AFTER HDD TO SSD (not procedure question)

    SATA HDD recognised as SSD

Hi. My SATA HDD is recognised as a SSD and Windows 10 will not perform defragmentation on it as a result; which I appreciate. I've tried many of the prescribed procedures mentioned on forums but to no effect. I'm pretty convinced that the problem lies
in the fact I have installed a SSD in my machine. Windows is recognising the correct size of my SATA HDD however and the SSD isn't showing up quite rightly as its Linux formatted. Using a third party defragmentation program exactly the same problem occurs,
however I was able to defragment my C drive using it as it just warned against it and didn't prohibit me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
